Greetings Everyone,
I am writing with the latest news about the Theory and Art of
Magic program at
1. March
Events
March was a big month as we launched our Tenth Anniversary season of the Theory and Art of Magic program. Max Maven and Eugene Burger kicked off the spring season with sold out shows and events for the week of March 12-March 16. Magicians came in from out of town (by air and by car) to have lots of time with our two stars. It was a fantastic week of magic and mystery.
Then on March 26, Bill Kalush (author of The Secret Life of Houdini) gave an outstanding detailed presentation on how Houdini used challenge events to secure his great fame and then surprised the audience by announcing he had brought along with him “a true heir of Houdini’s legacy.” At this point David Blaine joined him and me on stage for a three-way conversation about the “theory” and “art” of David’s magic and magic in general. Autographs and photos followed in abundance.
In the next few weeks I expect to have photos from all our March events up on the Theory and Art of Magic website at: www.muhlenberg.edu/cultural/magic.
2. May Event, The
Transformations Workshop: almost sold
out
The final event in the 2008 season is a three-day intensive workshop on magic performance that I will be hosting and teaching at Muhlenberg on May 2-4. This workshop is a condense version of the magic performance course that I teach at Muhlenberg every other year.
There are only a couple of seats still open for the workshop. If you are interested, full details can be found at the magic program website (see address above). Tickets can be purchased through the website or by calling the Muhlenberg College Box Office at: 484-664-3333, M-F 12-6 p.m. I hope you will join us! It is going to be three days packed with a semester’s worth of learning about the art of performing magic.

Thoughts
I want to give a special thank you to everyone who made up our sold-out audiences during our March events. I am already at work on the Spring 2009 installment of the Theory and Art of Magic program at Muhlenberg. I expect to make some announcements about it in the next couple of months. Thank you for staying on this e-mail list and for staying connected to magic at Muhlenberg!
With all good wishes,
